Farm Animal Playing Cards

Vectorized Playing Cards

The card designs for these are based on the original playing cards with a fun twist of farm animals as the characters. The kings are the male animals, the queen is a female animal, the jack is the baby, and the ace is the print of the animal. The four suits are the cows, horses, pigs, and chickens with a farmer on a tractor to mirror the joker on the bicycle.

When working on these playing cards I almost immediately had an idea for the theme of farm animals. So, I started sketching thinking about how I wanted to make them in vector. I tried multiple styles pushing between more natural and very geometric. During a critique of ideas, someone said wouldn’t it be fun if they were dressed up and the idea of using the original style of the playing cards came forth. To keep consistency between suites I created the bodies and then made interchangeable heads for the characters.  I tried to keep everything as close to the original style as possible including leaving the joker black and white.
