Japanese Stroll Garden, Springfield MO

Based on a beautiful park called the Japanese Stroll Garden in Springfield Missouri. This piece shows skill with watercolor, landscapes, and line art. The piece was painted from a photo I took after visiting the Stroll Garden.

This piece started with a walk through the Japanese Stroll Garden. I love going and collecting references from places around me or doing Plein air painting. I took pictures of the park and decided to paint the logos in a pond. I started by sketching it out on mixed media paper then went in with watercolors. After all the watercolor layers were done, I went in and inked the piece and added some highlights with white gel pens.
